Name: Matthew Michael ("Matt") Murdock
Canon: Marvel Television (MCU)
Canon point: post-Daredevil 3x13
Age: 33

History: Wiki

Personality:
+ Intelligent: It goes without saying that a man able to get into, and graduate from, Columbia Law School would be intelligent, but Matt’s intelligence goes beyond pure academic ability. He’s resourceful with his knowledge, able to apply what he knows of the law to success in court (when he’s focused on it, of course), and able to think around numerous boxes he gets cornered into in his vigilante activities. Furthermore, he’s able to go toe to toe with an adversary like Wilson Fisk — a man who prides himself on being at least five steps ahead of everyone else.

+ Morally centered/devout: Matt is devout not only as a Catholic, but also to his own system of values; in a world full of dark corners and grey areas, he is able to remain steady and steadfast. He believes in justice; he believes in redemption. He believes that there are lines he should not cross, and he stays behind them. Even when things become difficult, near impossible, this strong moral compass and set of values continues to push him forward, and ensures his separation from those who would resort to darker means to achieve their ends.

+ Compassionate: Fundamentally, Matt cares about people, and he cares about them deeply. One could say this about anyone who goes to great lengths to become a superhero, but Matt’s devout commitment to his religion and moral compass are driven by an inherent trait compassion. He wishes to keep people safe, and believes that he can make his neighborhood, Hell’s Kitchen, a safer place for all. Even as a child, the accident that blinded him resulted from a selfless choice to push an elderly man away from an oncoming truck. Furthermore, even if his methods are sometimes flawed, Matt goes to great lengths to protect the people he cares about.

- Obsessive and secretive: Matt is a driven person who doesn’t give up easily, but there’s another side to this coin — it can very easily turn obsessive, and such obsession can take on dark undertones. When this man is on a mission, he cannot be stopped, and everything else that is not the mission falls by the wayside, be it his personal relationships or even his job. Furthermore, Matt’s obsessive turns tend to be a solo act, and he is very often secretive about where he is or what he’s doing. Being secretive, of course, goes with the territory of a secret identity, but even with those in his circle who know of his double life as Daredevil, he can become cagey and withdrawn, often to the detriment of those relationships.

- Stubborn and self-righteous: There is probably almost no one on this Earth more stubborn than Matt Murdock, and while that can have its virtues (i.e. continuing to push him through odds stacked against him), that can also have its pitfalls. Matt doesn’t know when to quit, and once he has his mind on something, he cannot be easily shaken. Furthermore, when Matt believes he’s right, he can’t be shaken from that, either. This often devolves into a certain self-righteousness, as his unshakeable convictions will not be strayed — even when that is clearly to his detriment.

- Angry and violent: Due to his childhood accident and the loss of his father, among other things, Matt harbors a great amount of anger toward the world. It’s an understandable trauma response, but it tends to supersede other emotions that he often suppresses, and it’s something he’s largely failed to find a healthy outlet for. Violent tendencies find a home with Matt’s anger, and his vigilante outings, so to speak, allow him an opportunity to “let the devil out”. Though he maintains a personal resolve not to kill, one can see that he gets quite brutal with people he encounters on the streets — often unnecessarily so.

Powers/Abilities: After the accident that blinded Matt as a child, his other senses were enhanced to superhuman levels. His enhanced hearing includes an ability to use something like echolocation (which is referred to in the comics as a "radar sense"), detecting objects and people in his environment by the echoes that bounce off of them, and he is able to detect dishonesty by listening to the heartbeats of those he's speaking with. His senses of taste, smell, and touch also far surpass those of the average person, as well as his balance, dexterity, and reflexes. Having been trained by master Chaste warrior Stick, Matt is an expert martial artist and acrobat, adept at hand-to-hand combat, and is skilled with weapons such as staffs and clubs. Finally, with a law degree from Columbia and years of experience working as a lawyer, Matt possesses a vast amount of legal knowledge, as well as a keen ability to make persuasive arguments.

Regret: Matt is full of regrets, but there may be one above all else: Elektra, his first love. He regrets not being able to save her from being stabbed on that rooftop — and from then falling into the clutches of the Hand, who'd resurrected her, taken away her autonomy, and turned her into a weapon. He carries around a great deal of survivor's guilt from making it out of the building collapse at Midland Circle, where Elektra had not. And if there were a way to undo this, to be able to save her from being stabbed by Nobu in the first place, which would, in turn, have also subverted many of the events that had followed? He'll take it.

Suitability: While in most situations of his life, the two "sides" of Matt, so to speak, have a tendency to come into conflict, they actually both present assets for potential recruitment. One "side", of course, involves Matt's extensive training and abilities as a fighter; with his level of technical skill, as well as a unique ability to know his environment (and not to mention a sheer determination that keeps him going until he literally passes out), he can fight, needless to say, when the situation calls for it. But that's not all he can offer; with education and experience as a lawyer, as well as deep inherent compassion and a motivation to seek justice, Matt is an ideal advocate for those in need of one, and would also be able to apply these skills in a diplomatic context. Persuasive arguments and negotiations definitely aren't new to him, and so he has more to offer than just his ability to throw, and take, a punch.

Inventory: At point of entry, Matt will only be arriving with the clothes on his back, as well as his glasses and cane.

Sample: TDM top level; TDM tag-in to Rand
